Rotary had a fascinating presentation from Mark Susca from Cheshire Search and Rescue last week.
Can you believe they’re manned by 65 well trained and well equipped volunteers, who give put their time to train once a week and wait to be called out in all weathers, predominantly looking for missing or vulnerable people.
They’re on call 24 hours a day, 365 days a year and last year this group of volunteers gave 16,385 man hours, unbelievable! This figure includes 35 callouts, 83 training exercises and 151 community engagements.
They get no funding from the government, all money is raised via donations and volunteers bag packing at Waitrose and M&S. This seems like a good cause if you want to help?
